BLUEBELL PHOTO SHOOT
Have you ever thought of booking a family bluebell shoot? It’s a great opportunity to explore your local woodland and capture some beautiful family portraits to treasure for generations!
Bluebells are usually at their best between late April and early May, so it’s best to contact me in advance to book your shoot. This Oxfordshire-based family met me in a beautifully secluded bluebell forest. It was literally smothered with bluebells! In fact Iāve never seen such a densely populated bluebell forest.
On a shoot like this, I always remind children not to pick wild flowers and to be careful where they tread. This was particularly tricky considering how many bluebells there were.
PARENTS IN THE FRAME!
The girls spotted a little hollow nestled amongst the bluebells that was the perfect size for them and their Mum to sit in! Whilst I lay on the floor with my camera, Dad pretended to be a hungry Gruffalo wanting ‘photographer ice cream!’
Dad’s acting skills enthralled the girls and helped me capture some extremely naturalĀ shots of the three of them laughing Later we got some really intimate images of him with the girl, as well as a selection of lovely family portraits.
DRESS SENSE!
Dressing for your photo shoot can make or break an image! So in advance of your shoot, I’ll send you my top clothing tips. For this family bluebell shoot we mixed navy blue and denim with a hint of pink and yellow. It worked beautifully and the bright yellow cardigan was a particular success.
As we ventured through the forest the girls selected trees to climb, logs to balance on, and I we even found a willow den! The more they explored, the more my camera snapped a beautiful mix of documentary style images and family portraits.
The family were thrilled with their final gallery and the images are now printed, framed and displayed at home for all to see!
